Ceiling - Cleaning

We're the fourth owners of our 1996 Safari Sahara 3530.  While not strong, there was a faint smell of cigarette smoke when the unit had been closed up for sometime.  At least one of the previous owners had smoked enough that the ceiling was yellowed.

To get to the "After" photo, I rented a carpet cleaner will upholstery attachment.  With my arms raised above my head, I cleaned and rinsed the ceiling twice.  In the worst spots I treated them with a stain remover or a degreaser depending on the situation.

The ceiling around the fan required special attention with the degreaser because the fan also servers as an exhaust fan for the stove.

Testing the degreaser on a few spots on the ceiling.
I won't sugar coat it, it was hard work pressing the upholstery cleaning attachment against the ceiling.

An amazing transformation.
After the ceiling, all the other fabrics were also cleaned (carpet, valances, sofa, sofa pillows, headboard, and mattress.  Today the motorhome is smoke free, and it smells clean even after being shut up for awhile.

The original carpet is still in great shape, and it gets cleaned at least once a year.

Edging the bedroom.
Despite being a lot of work, the ceiling and fabric cleaning has really paid off.  The motorhome smells fresh, and everything looks bright.
