Lifeline Interference with the Headsail

Lifelines in factory default position attached to bow pulpit at the top.
Catalina delivers the Capri 22 with the lifelines attached at the top of the bow pulpit.  This is my preferred position for the lifelines, but it does come at the cost of sail shape.  The standard bow pulpit on the original model of the Capri 22 came with a second set of lifeline attachment points at the base of the pulpit.  Unfortunately, to lower the lifelines to the lower position requires that they be about six inches shorter in length.

Lifelines moved to the base of the bow pulpit.
Below is a 2018 photo of a Capri 22 at the Seattle Boat Show, which reveals that Catalina has removed the lower lifeline attachment points.

On my boat, #239 (1987), a previous owner solved the lifeline length issue when in the lower position by installing a pair of padeyes on the deck.  While I don't normally run the lifelines here, I used them when I had the bow pulpit off the boat for repairs.

Dyneema.  Without the padeyes, another alternative for lowering the lifelines without shortening them would have been to extend the lifelines to the stem fitting using Dyneema and a shackle through one of the holes in the stem fitting.

If one wants to lower the lifelines, but their bow pulpit doesn't have the lower attachment points, you can use Hayn pulpit anchors.  This approach requires shortening the lifelines, but you can always use Dyneena if you want to move them back up to the upper position.
