Anacortes Arts Festival

In a town of 16,000, one would think an event the caliber of the Anacortes Arts Festival (www.anacortesartsfestival.com) would be out of reach.  This was only our second time visiting the festival.  We spoke with several of the artists and were surprised to find that several were from out of state, and not just Oregon.

This was a community art project where folks would make something and then attached it to the net that was gradually raised over the course of the festival to make room for new additions at the bottom.

Beyond traditional artist items like paintings, photography, and ceramics, the festival celebrates an eclectic range from woodworking, and metalwork, to music and food.

The festival covers Commercial Ave. from the entrance to old town all the way north to Guemes Channel.
