As we prepared to end our month in Anacortes and head to our next destination, we decided to walk onto the ferry and head over to Friday Harbor for a few hours of sightseeing.

Cars load in Anacortes. Walk-on parking is plentiful, either at the terminal or in the overflow lot 700 yards away. |

At the north end of West St is a small public garden with benches overlooking the harbor. You reach it from the ferry terminal via right onto Front St., left onto Spring St., right onto 1st St., and then right onto West St. |

Friday Harbor is home to contemporary and traditional watercraft. Several charter companies operate out of the harbor, offering everything from whale watching to two-hour sails.

The wind picked up in the afternoon for the return trip. No up and down, but there was a slow rolling side to side as the ferry punched its way through the seas. |
Friday Harbor had once again been a great adventure. Walking on made everything hassle free. The West St. garden was a nice find, and the Blue Water Bar and Grill a tasty treat.
