Located north of Deception Pass is Bowman Bay. Recommended to us for kayaking by the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce, we found the natural shape of the bay creates a protected area just ideal for paddling about. We launched the kayaks from the pebble beach and started exploring in a clockwise direction.

Kayak can be rented at the park. |
Besides the pier with landing dock, the state has also installed an overnight stay dock that is not connected to the shore.

Sharpe Cove on the north side had some Western Washington University - Bellingham vessels anchored in it. |

Spectacular seems like an overused word on our trips, but Bowman Bay deserves the reference. I'd be happy to just sit on the beach, it is that pretty. Exploring the shoreline was a treat. We paddled the full 360 degrees of the bay and enjoyed every scenic view.
