We bicycle, kayak, and walk a lot on our work/vacations, typically several times a day. The portion of the Tommy Thompson trail that runs through Fidalgo Bay Resort is built on an old railroad right of way. Heading east on the trail takes you over the bay on a trestle.

Heading west on the trail from the resort follows the shoreline until a mile later you reach 34th St. We frequently will ride our bikes all the way to Cap Sante, a round trip of six miles

There are signs along the trail to explain some of the nature |

From the resort, it is 2.3 miles to Safeway and 2.4 miles to the Cap Sante Marina office |
The end of the trestle is one mile from the crosswalk at the resort, so it made for a great two-mile evening walk.

A the beginning of the trip, a whole month in Anacortes seemed like a lot of time, but in the end, it was too short. We had experienced many new things the area had to offer, enjoyed a few old favorites, and learned that there was so much more to do.
