Cranberry Lake

Situated in the Anacortes Community Forest Lands, up the hill from the Anacortes Ferry Terminal, is Cranberry Lake.  After work on Thursday, we decided to check it out since it had been identified to have trails and be accessible to kayaks.

The trail started off pretty easy, but it quickly turned from a walk to hike.  While neither of us had any trouble, the path got steeper and rougher as we made our way counter-clockwise around the lake.

Typical of the steeper segments of the trail, but definitely not the steepest.

The far end of the lake almost halfway.

While you never had to worry about losing the trail, there were segments on the back side that seem less traveled.

While it was work at times, it was well worth it.

An amazing will to survive.
We both look forward to bringing the kayaks back sometime.
