Kayaking Washington Park - Sunset Beach

Friday after work we headed back over to Sunset Beach.  We secured a parking spot next to the beach, so launching the kayaks was a short seventy-five-foot walk to the water's edge.

What a gorgeous day.  It was definitely short-sleeve weather, despite us being in long-sleeves for sun protection.

We stayed mostly near the shore, exploring both east and west of the launch ramp.  The views of Guemes Channel and north were spectacular.

Although it was the height of the summer season, no place we visited ever seemed overcrowded.  Out on the water, it felt like a million miles from nowhere as the kayak floated over the gentle ripple kicked up by the light wind and the occasional boat or ferry.

Wrapping Up the Evening -- Seafarer's Memorial Park

We finished our Friday evening with another free concert on the grass at Seafarer's Memorial Park.
