The Forest is Still on Fire

The forest fire haze at 8 pm.

We've been hiding out in the motorhome for days because the air outside was considered unhealthy.  The smell of smoke had filled the air, and at times visibility had been less than one mile.  It was with that as a backdrop that when I stepped outside to dispose of the garbage and dump the tanks I noticed the smell of smoke was gone, although the sky was hazy.  Itching to get outside, Laura and I headed out on the Tommy Thompson Trail, happy to be in the open air.

The wind was pretty light, and about halfway into our walk, the wind direction must have changed, because our smoke-free smelling air suddenly smelled like a burning forest.  My eyes started to burn, and the air became thick as if you were downwind from someone's campfire.  We still had a half mile to walk before we'd get back to our campsite.

My bad for taking us on our worst walk.
