Just a Day in Camp

Fidalgo Bay RV Resort, Site #118
It's Tuesday and a regular work day for me.  I was online at 5 am, and my first call was with colleagues in Houston. My last call of the day is scheduled with colleagues in Asia when it will be their Wednesday morning.  The RV resort's Wi-Fi continues to be unbelievable.  Good job Fidalgo Bay RV Resort.

The skies remain hazy from the forest fires, so Laura and I have been spending more time inside than we would normally do when out in the motorhome.    Our strip of lawn has been slowly going dormant.  The Samish Indian Nation that owns and operates the RV resort feels it is wasteful to water the lawn and unhealthy to nature to use herbicides and fertilizers, so they let Mother Nature take her course.  The approach clearly works because we have stayed at the resort during the wetter times of the year and everything is lush.

Our campsite.
Our campsite overlooks a creek/canal that drains into the bay.  The canal sits between us and the Tommy Thompson trail.  Two years ago when we stayed in site #120, we didn't have problems with mosquitoes despite our proximity to the canal.  For 2018 we had a repeat performance.  Sitting in chairs at the front of the motorhome, or even down the bank closer to the water didn't bring a swarm of mosquitoes.

Since we'd be staying for nine weeks, I brought and installed the wheel covers to protect the tires.  I also invested in one of the height adjustable step stabilizers in order to take some stress off of the motorhome's retractable step assembly.  I used some yellow plastic leveling blocks so I didn't have to extend the stabilizer to its maximum.  I've been very happy with the stabilizer.

Laura's July 14th herb garden has become a prolific producer over the past five weeks.  When it's time to depart, it will travel home in the shower.

Herb Garden.

We're just over six weeks into our nine-week adventure, and nothing has gotten old or routine.  The motorhome has been functioning great, the Wi-Fi has been wonderful (good enough that some evenings we watch streaming TV), and the pull to get out of the RV and do something has been frequently met and conquered.  With three weeks left, we're already wishing we could stay longer.
