Kayaking Cranberry Lake

Laura's first time kayaking on Cranberry Lake.
Laura and I decided to return to Cranberry Lake after work on Monday.  The beautiful weather Anacortes is known for had returned.  The parking lot puts you thirty feet from the lake, so launching the kayaks was easy.

The forest around the lake is very lush, and the forest floor is typical northwest with moss and ferns.  The remains of trees in the lake show signs of past forest fires.

The southern end of the lake is dominated by a low island.  Kayaking here is fun because it challenges you to figure out how to navigate through the standing and fallen trees.

Dinner underway.
Back at our campsite at Fidalgo Bay RV Resort (site #118), we fired up the grill and started some shrimp.

We like the opportunity to grill foods being out in the motorhome affords us.  During extended stays, we set up the BBQ and the propane tank, and cable them to the picnic table with locks so they don't walk off.

Over dinner, we relived the fun we'd had on Cranberry Lake and promised ourselves to get back there in the near future for another exploration in the kayaks.
