Kayaking Bowman Bay

Bowman Bay, Fidalgo Island
We first acquired our kayaks when we owned our Catalina 30 mkIII sailboat "Celtic Myst".  The worked great on that boat because we could carry them inside the shroud and still sail the boat.  When we got the Safari motorhome, we knew the kayaks would accompany us on many trips, so Laura set about finding a kayak carrying rack for our 2012 Honda Fit that we tow behind the motorhome.  With our affinity for the water, the kayaks travel with us everywhere.

Bowman Bay was a short 20-minute drive from our campsite at Fidalgo Bay RV Resort.  Part of the Deception Pass State Park, the facility has ample parking, trails, a pier, launch ramp, picnic tables, and a great pebble beach.

The Pier.
For those that don't own a kayak, the state park rents paddle boards and kayaks to the public.

We first learn about Bowman Bay in 2016 when chatting with the representative at the visitor center in Old Towne Anacortes.  We mentioned we kayaked and they asked, "have you visited Bowman Bay?"  Popular with the locals, the bay has lots of natural beauty, calm waters, and fun shoreline and coves to explore.

We had a fun time both on the water and ashore.  The umbrella worked out well as we sat back in our chairs with our feet up on the drift logs.
